Lost trust in funaab #1

My excitement knew no bounds that
fateful Monday morning, as i got dressed
and prepared for my first lecture in
Funaab.
I stood by looking at the mirror, which
made me reflect on my life and who i
have grown to become. Physically, i was
a very beautiful damsel with qualities
wanted by every man. my beauty knew
no limits as i could make the toughest of
hearts melt because of my beauty. Till
today,i believe my beauty could be
compared to that of “delilah” who made
the great samson fall.
I quickly applied my makeup and
hurriedly left for my proposed faculty of
learning.
I had started amassing lots of friends
two weeks later,including male admirers
who i had a great tinge of hatred for…
boys irritated me. most of the boys were
even afraid to talk to me because of my
rudeness.
jeez, I HATE BOYS,infact, the mere
thought of anything that had a tail
between it legs got me irritated, anytime
i remembered what i had gone through in
men’s hands,sent a cold shiver down my
spine.
I chose to forget, but never forgive as i
hoped to one day revenge on the
trespasses sinned against me by the so
called “men”. Now,my main purpose to
achieve is reading my books, making a
1st class in my Department and not
allowing any
ANIMAL wit TAILS distract me!
By the way,my name is BECKY,i had
finished my secondary school,four years
back wit a record of the highest
scoring student in my waec result, with
wat Nigerians call A1 parallel….na
Beans??,my beauty could be equated to
my brilliancy,as i was the best
graduating student back then.
Well,we all know how things happen in
Naija,gaining admission to the university
wasn’t a matter of brilliancy, probably
luck or connections…one thing or the
other,was the problem
every year, either my course of study was
competed for by other students,or my
course was changed which i had to
differ…
Age was no longer by my side,as i just
clocked 20 years last two months,but i
was still very young, needless to say,i
wasn’t even hurrying to get married..i
didn’t think i would sef, because of
my hatred for men…this year i had
gained admission into the federal
university of agriculture, Abeokuta , with
my preferred Course of study.. Animal
Production and Health
My joy couldn’t be described as there
was no unit of measure to my level of
happiness.
Little did i know, what the future laid in
store for me.. courtsey of funaabgist.com

UTI the latest disease in town

Urinary tract infection?
What is the permanent SOLUTION? and where
can we get TOTAL CURE? A urinary tract
infection that is not treated can lead to a more
serious infection of the kidneys. The bacteria
may travel up the ureters and infect the
kidneys. Normal urine contains no bacteria
(germs).But, Sometimes, bacteria from outside
the body get into the urinary tract, and cause
infection and inflammation. A urinary tract
infection causes the lining of the urinary tract
to become red and irritated, which may
produce some of the following symptoms: Pain
in the abdomen or pelvic area. Pressure in the
lower pelvis. Frequent need to urinate
(frequency). Painful urination (dysuria). Urgent
need to urinate (urgency). Incontinence (urine
leakage). The need to urinate at night.
Abnormal urine color (cloudy urine). Blood in
the urine. Pain during sex. Penis or vaganal
pain. Strong or foul-smelling urine. Anyone
can get a urinary tract infection, but they are
more common in women. This is because the
urethra in females is shorter and closer to the
anus. If you get frequent urinary tract
infections, your doctor may do tests to check
for other health problems—such as diabetes or
an abnormal urinary system—that may be
contributing to your infections.
There are some steps you can take to reduce
your risk of developing a urinary tract
infection: 1. Follow good hygiene practices of
the genital area (especially women). After a
bowel movement, the genitals should be wiped
from front to back to reduce the chance of
dragging E. coli bacteria from the rectal area
to the urethra. 2. Urinate frequently. This
flushes bacteria out of the bladder and may
reduce the risk of cystitis in those who are
prone to urinary tract infections. Drinking
plenty of fluids encourages frequent urination.
Avoid fluids and foods that irritate the bladder,
such as alcohol, citrus juices, drinks
containing caffeine and spicy foods. Also
avoid smoking during this time. 3. Urinate
immediately before and after sex. This may
help flush out bacteria that may have been
introduced during intercourse. Wash the
genital area before having sex. 4. Drink at
least 6-8 glasses of water a day 5. Wear
cotton underwear 6. Avoid tight-fitting clothing
and pantyhose
Pelvic inflammatory disease is an infection of
the uterus, fallopian tubes or ovaries. It is the
most common serious infection among young
women. It is the most common cause of
infertility. The infection can cause tissue
inside the fallopian tubes to become scarred,
which can damage the fallopian tubes or block
them completely. The more often a woman
gets this infection, the greater her risk of
becoming infertile.
Pelvic inflammatory disease usually develops
in a two-stage process. First, the organisms
infect the cervix (opening of the uterus). Then,
the bacteria migrate up to the uterus, fallopian
tubes or ovaries. This PID is common in
women younger than age 25 who have more
than one sex partner. Women who have had
an STD have a higher risk of getting pelvic
inflammatory disease, as do those who have
already had a previous pelvic infection. Any
woman whose sex partner has more than one
sex partner is also at increased risk of pelvic
infection.
The most common symptoms include: Pain in
the pelvis and lower abdomen. Discharge from
the vagina with an unpleasant odor. Pain
during sexual intercourse. A burning feeling
when urinating. Bleeding or spotting between
periods or bleeding after sex. Women who are
in stable sexual relationships with only one
partner have very little risk if neither person
was infected with an STD from a previous
partner. Because most cases of pelvic
inflammatory disease are linked to STDs,
treating a woman's sex partners is essential to
prevent repeat infections. All recent sex
partners of a woman with pelvic inflammatory
disease should be examined by a doctor and
treated as if they had both gonorrhea and
chlamydia. A woman with pelvic inflammatory
disease should not have sex again until her
sex partners have been treated.

Couples life in youth

The weather where I am is crazy!! I mean crazy.  The way I dress now,  one would think I were in Russia and each time I go to bed,  one thing comes to mind; weather for two.

I would give anything to spoon with a guy all night buy nah! I'd rather cover myself with the the blood of Jesus in addition to my duvet.

Co-habiting is also known as "couple's life"  in Nigeria. When I was in university, the pattern was very predictable.  The love birds few weeks into the relationship would start spending nights together then  either the girl would drop her bra,  the next day it's her hairbrush,  the next her top till she moves in finally.

Most of my relationships were LDR but the guy I dated in my school knew my stand because I told him point blank that I would have none of that. The highest we did was spend the night together.

The truth is over the years,  I've talked to lots of guys and I asked them if they'll eventually marry that girl they are cohabiting with and lovelies,  99%  gave me an emphatic NO and the premise is "why buy the cow when I can have the milk for free?".

As much as we might like to brand them heartless,  statistics have shown that most times,  it is we the female that will always lose out (aren't we mostly disadvantaged when it comes to most of these issues anyways?) so why not use your head and avoid becoming an addition to that statistics??

I honestly do not know what advantage(s)  lie in cohabiting because most times,  the girl has to cook,  clean etc and the only thing the guy might have to offer is maybe free house,  stipends and sex which most times would be forced whether she feels like it or not and for someone like me who has scoin scoin,  we go fight tire because I can't be performing wife duties for a boyfi so I'd rather not engage in it to avoid stories that touch.

So now,  it's over  to you dear readers.  What are the advantages, disadvantages etc of cohabiting? Ever done it??

CAMPUS LOVE: A Story of Many Lessons
When I was 16 I got a girlfriend,
but there was no passion, so I
decided I needed a passionate
girl with a zest for life.
In college I dated a passionate
girl, but she was too emotional.
Everything was an emergency;
she was a drama queen, cried all
the time and threatened suicide.
So I decided I needed a girl with
stability.
When I was 25 I found a very
stable girl but she was boring.
She was totally predictable and
never got excited about anything.
Life became so dull that I decided
that I needed a girl with some
excitement. When I was 28 I
found an exciting girl, but I
couldn’t keep up with her. She
rushed from one thing to
another, never settling on
anything. She did mad impetuous
things and made me miserable as
often as happy. She was great fun
initially and very energetic, but
directionless. So I decided to find
a girl with some real ambition.
When I turned 31, I found a smart
ambitious girl with her feet
planted firmly on the ground and
married her. She was so
ambitious that she divorced me
and took everything I owned.
•••this life big ooo, “there is no
‘PERFECT’ girl, just keep the one ya
have and make her perfect!”

The world best

What makes legends Since 2008, FIFA’s annual jamboree
honoring the world’s best player has been
dominated by just two names. Ronaldo,
Messi, Messi, Messi, Messi, Ronaldo,
Ronaldo.
Monday saw Portuguese and Real Madrid
superstar Cristano Ronaldo crowned as win
ner of the FIFA Ballon d’Or for a second
year in a row. It came as scant surprise,
given his club’s phenomenal form in 2014
that saw the return of Champions League
trophy -- and with it the coveted “decima,”
or tenth European triumph -- to the
Bernabeu.
“It has been an incredible year,” he said at
the awards ceremony. “I would like to
continue the work that I have done so far. I
want to try to improve, to become better as
each day goes by.
“I never thought that I would bring this
trophy back home on three occasions. I
want to become one of the greatest players
of all time.”
Top of their game
This seven-year duopoly reflects the im
portance of these two supreme athletes on
the game, and allows us to see how lucky
we are to be able to witness the long
summers of two of the finest players to
ever grace the sport.
And part of the fascination lies in how dif
ferent the two men are. Debating the
relative merits of Ronaldo and his great
rival Lionel Messi, talismans of Real and
Barcelona, respectively, has been
something of a parlor game in recent
years.
It’s easy to compare and contrast, at least
superficially. On the one hand, the
improbable, mercurial talent of the shaggy
haired, oddly stooped figure of Messi,
confusing defenders as much as inspiring
his teammates to a higher level.
On the other: Ronaldo. A glistening, taut
mass of muscle, neck like a tree trunk,
powering forward relentlessly. He looks like
he was created in a lab or a high tech
factory; a Terminator, the ultimate
footballer.
Media matters
The two couldn’t be much more different, in
style and, if you are to believe the majority
of the media, likability.
Ronaldo has suffered the slings and arrows
of a largely hostile press for much of his
career, starting as a foal-limbed teen in
Manchester, where he was often derided as
a “show pony,” for elaborate and
unnecessary tricks, and -- a sin in the
English game -- diving to win free kicks
and penalties.
The negativity followed him to Madrid and
a then-record transfer fee. It is largely
Real’s cheerleading press, AS and Marca,
that give him a free pass; the rest of the
global sporting media grudgingly accepted
his gifts, but are quick to level criticism
when they feel it due.
He’s often seen as a ball-hog, a selfish
player who would rather shoot than pass to
a teammate. That he has taken at least 10
shots at goal in nine matches doesn’t
exactly banish the perception.
That his fellow “galactico” Gareth Bale
would have the temerity to take a shot
(and miss) in a recent Liga game rather
than pass to CR7, as the virtuoso has
styled himself, earned him a withering look
from the Portuguese master, and the
opprobrium of fans.
Off the field, his reticence to engage the me
dia -- a symptom, it is said, of his shyness
-- has been interpreted as haughty and
arrogant. Messi, on the other hand, who
also eschews media coverage has typically
been viewed as humble and self-effacing --
although recent tax and locker room
scandals threaten to change that.
Phenomenal 2014
But the stats don’t lie, and with the
phenomenal return of 61 goals from 60
appearances (42 in 30 La Liga games
alone) during 2014, it’s hard not to give
credit to this year’s winner. He reached the
400-goal milestone for club and country (in
653 appearances) in January,
He is a footballing genius, and had he
stood alone -- his yin unopposed by
Messi’s yang -- he would no doubt be
already talked of as one of the all-time
greats. As it stands, he’s talking about that
honor in aspirational terms, as a goal; he’s
spent most of his career battling compari
sons.
He’s also developed in leaps and bounds
since his 2008 World Player of the Year
trophy, refined his unquestionable talent
since he first grinned on that FIFA stage.
He’s far more mature; gone are the
unnecessary stepovers and (almost) the
petulance.
To complement this, he long ago inherited
an undimmable desire to win from his old
mentor, Alex Ferguson, and he burns with
passion and a need to score. That’s only
become more evident as he grows into the
complete player he has developed into over
the past couple of years.
And along with his natural ability, he’s long
been an indefatigable, consummate profes
sional who gives everything he has until the
final whistle, and that’s what has fueled his
work- and goal-rate in 2014.
He still takes a lot of shots, sure, but when
“Ronaldo doesn’t score,” on the rare
occasions that he walks away from a
match without netting a goal is the
headline, maybe he’s right to do so.
Certainly his Real Madrid coach, Carlo
Ancelotti, doesn’t begrudge him the efforts.
World Cup woes?
Germany’s irrepressible keeper Manuel
Neuer -- who was a distant outlier for the
Ballon d’Or this year -- may feel aggrieved
that his superlative World Cup went
unnoticed in voting. Indeed, Fabio
Cannavaro won the award’s predecessor,
the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2006,
off the back of his considerable influence
captaining Italy to 2006 World Cup glory.
But while he had a largely anonymous
World Cup, it would be difficult to deny
that, year round, it has been another
Cristiano’s year of glory. And, like the man
or not, no one should begrudge him his
time at the pinnacle. Indeed Ronaldo is a
star like no other!

Bot 325 assignment

Facultative Saprophyte – A
fungus or other organism that
ordinarily lives on dead
organic material but has the
ability to exist also as a
parasite on living plants.e.g Beauveria bassiana

A facultative parasite is an organism that
may resort to parasitic activity, but does
not absolutely rely on any host for
completion of its life cycle .
Examples of facultative parasitism occur
among many species of fungi, such as
members of the genus Armillaria .
Armillaria species do parasitise living
trees, but if the tree dies, whether as a
consequence of the fungal infection or not,
the fungus continues to digest the wood
without further need for parasitic activity;
some species even can infest dead wood
without any parasitic activity at all. Thanks for your views

What makes a lady a tomboy

A tomboy is a girl that doesn't really act like
a girl. Tomboys don't really have to wear guy
clothes, but they can wear things that are
more relaxed to them opposed to girlie girls
who will wear skin tight clothes and high
heels a lot. Tomboys will not act like most
girlie girls. They will make their own
decisions and they really don't want or need
anyone elses opinions. They can be involved
in more rough activities, like football or
hockey, and can be more interested in
mechanics, computers, video games...
tomboys don't really care about dirt; they can
wear the same pair of jeans for days and not
really give a dang. They do tend to hang
around boys a lot, but they might also have
some other tomboy friends. Sometimes if
they have a girlie girl friend, it's could be
because it's a long time relationship, or
maybe it's a friend of one of their friends.
Tomboys are not to be confused with stock
show girls. Some tomboys tend to catch the
attention of boys because they happen to
have a lot of common intrests with boys.
Some tomboys may notice, but don't really
care.
Some reasons to cause a girl to be a tomboy
would be that she grew up with a lot of guys
around, like if she has a few brothers or if she
grew up just with her dad. As a microbiologist i have to analyse it scientifically
Because they behave like boys in some
respects, tomboys provide an opportunity to
explore why the sexes differ in those ways.
Although the causes of differences within the
sexes may differ from the causes of
differences between the sexes, it is a
reasonable hypothesis that tomboys and
typical boys have been subject to similar
influences with respect to some traits. But,
because tomboys behave like typical girls in
many respects, they also provide an
opportunity to delineate factors that operate
universally within-sex, making members of
one sex similar to each other and different
from members of the other sex.
The most persistent controversy in the realm
of sex differences is the degree to which they
are caused by biological factors, gender
cognitions, or social experiences (Ruble &
Martin, 1998). The most influential biological
hypothesis is that prenatal androgens cause
sex differences in the brain that subsequently
cause behavioral sex differences. Studies of
congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), in
which genetic females are exposed to high
levels of prenatal androgens, suggest that a
core component of tomboyism--sex-typed
toy play--is influenced by early androgen
exposure (Berenbaum & Hines, 1992). Thus,
it is reasonable to hypothesize that tomboys
were also subject to atypically high early
androgen action, either because of high
androgen levels or sensitive receptors.
However, in contrast to girls with CAH,
tomboys do not appear to show
morphological changes that would suggest
that they were exposed to excess androgens
early in development, such as masculinized
genitalia. A classic study of female rhesus
monke ys showed that genital and behavioral
masculinization could occur independently,
depending on the timing of hormonal
androgenization (Goy, Bercovitch, & McBrair,
1988). Consistent with this possibility, Udry
(2000) has reported that women exposed to
higher levels of sex hormone binding globulin
(a molecule necessary for testosterone
action) during the second trimester of fetal
life were more psychologically masculine
than other women; masculinity was unrelated
to hormone exposure during the first or third
trimesters. Unfortunately, it is currently
impossible to determine retrospectively which
females have been exposed to the highest
level of prenatal androgen. …            I hope this article has been able to enlighten you about the reasons for the tomboy nature in ladies generally thanks for viewing
